BRINDISI (Italy), is a town of Southern Italy and was called in the past with names as “the suitcase of the Indies” or “ The southern Venice”, or “The gate of the East”.
Brindisi is famous in the world for many events: in the waters the epic clash between Caesar and Pompey, here Antonio and Ottaviano dispersed the ROMAN EMPIRE, tradition wants as the last VIRGIL’S HOME, has many palaces and majestic mansions of the Knights Templar, the richness of its sacred art heritage to the authentic essence of the city that FREDERICK II of Sweden called it “Filia Solis”, exalting the Mediterranean sunlight of this extraordinary city.
A few meters away from Piazza Cairoli there is GRANAFEI-NERVEGNA PALACE, an example of late-Renaissance architecture with Catalan influences, built in its original nucleus in 1565. It has a view with BAROQUE elements especially in the stone balconies and is divided into three orders by the frames on which four aphorisms in Latin language. In its basement and ground floor it is possible to see the remains of an ancient DOMUS AREA with Roman baths.
